Wow, what an epic tour with Sir Tom Jones! We travelled to some amazing places & played some unforgettable venues to some brilliant crowds. We started the tour by swimming with turtles in Curacao, and finished by playing the Hollywood Bowl with Sir Tom & Van Morrison! Other highlights include visiting both Motown and Chess Records, tango lessons in Buenos Aires, Mexican Wrestling in Mexico City, doing the samba in Sao Paulo, hanging in New York, cycling the Golden Gate Bridge, and a hell of a lot more. The whole trip was a bit of a whirlwind and seems like a distant dream as I head off in the morning to do the nursery run! Crowds were pretty amazing throughout the tour, generally unreserved and often on their feet from the off. Sir Tom was on great form throughout, he’s really quite a force of nature.
Passing through cities was a great chance to see friends I hadn’t seen for ages. I took my camera wherever I could and I’m pretty pleased with some of the shots so hope you enjoy some glimpses of the trip. We ate some pretty great food, including some oddities (for me, at least) such as guacamole made with grasshoppers. I went on some good runs, in particular running through Central Park & Harlem in New York, the Hollywood Hills in LA and the Mashantucket Pequot Indian reservation. But fear not, it wasn’t all cultural and healthy! Quite far from it, suffice to say the usual tour fun was had.
Anyway, I can’t possibly sum it all up in a few lines! The tour went through: Curacao, Mexico City, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Windsor (Ontario), Orillia (Ontario) Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Mashantucket, Washington, New Jersey, Cleveland, Chicago, Louisville, Tulsa, Thackerville, San Francisco, Los Angeles.
