I’m very happy to announce the launch of 3 online courses with the fantastic It was a lot of fun to film and the guys at Music Gurus have done a great job of putting them together. Check them out here, along with FREE video tasters:

Stylistic & Creative Ideas For Your Slow Blues

The Music Gurus site looks great and is super easy to use.  We covered tons of ground in the courses so I hope they should keep you busy for a while, whether you’re starting from scratch or are already at a higher level.  I’ve drawn upon the Blues players that influenced me – people like Otis Spann, Memphis Slim, Johnnie Johnson, Pinetop Perkins etc, but also want you to think outside of the box.  Being able to play stylistically is hugely important, but sounding like YOU is priceless so I’ve tried to encourage both an authentic stylistic approach whilst opening the door to your creative side.  Playing Blues piano is not simply about running around the ‘blues scale’ or pentatonic type riffs – there’s such a rich history and musical language filled with all sorts of stylistic subtleties and I’ve tried to cover as much as possible during these courses.pdf3

I’ve created PDFs for every lesson that summarise the lesson, give extra practice tips, and have many of the ideas directly notated to complement the video.

One feature of the Music Gurus site is their Music Tutoring system, where students can ask tutors questions and even upload videos of their own playing for tutors’ feedback.

If you’ve got any questions about the courses, please just get in touch here and I’d be happy to help if I can. And if you find yourself taking one, thanks very much for checking it out and good luck!
